Healthy clean "wings" for Super Bowl parties!

Image
My "wings" I really mean cauliflower. Now wait and hear me out! I am not a cauliflower fan myself. Never have been. So trust me when I say, these are fabulous! No, it's still not chicken. You got me! It is an awesome low calorie, healthy, and vegan option though! So, buffalo cauliflower bites. What you'll need: Cauliflower  Whole wheat flour  Buffalo sauce  Salt Garlic powder Water  Olive oil  Preheat the oven to 450. Lightly spray cooking sheet.  In a bowl mix 1/2 cup of flour, 1/2 cup water, pinch of sea salt and a pinch of garlic powder. Mix. Coat cauliflower pieces in mix. Lay on baking sheet. Cook for 20 minutes (or until the mix looks hardened). During that baking in a bowl mix 1/4 cup buffalo sauce, 1/4 cup olive oil, a pinch of salt and a pinch of garlic powder. Brush on cauliflower bites then bake an additional 5-10 minutes.  Viola! Delicious healthy buffalo bites!

Advocare and Body by Vi Vs Shakeology

Image
I am going to do a short break down, but below there is a long breakdown of Shakeology.      I have seen many people talk about Advocare and Body By Vi. I wanted to take the time to talk about the serious and actually dangerous differences between them. Main 2 being Soy Protein Isolate, Soy Lecithin, Sucralose and artificial sweeteners such as Aspartame. Both of these dangerous substances are found in both Advocare and Body by Vi. -Lets start with the Soy . 93% yes that is correct NINETY THREE PERCENT of Soy is Genetically Modified. That means that the soybeans DNA makeup has been altered. Soy is also snuck into products under other names such as hydrogenated oils, lecithin, emulsifiers, tocopherol (a vitamin E supplement) and proteins. Not only is most soy GMO (genetically modified) Soy also contains phytoestrogens, which mimic the body’s natural estrogen hormones. Soybeans contain phytoestrogens, which mimic the body’s natural estrogen hormones. For men, this can lead

Why am I here?

Image
As a coach, I'm not going to show up at your home or stalk you on Facebook to make sure you're doing what you're supposed to be. I am going to encourage and ask how you are doing, the rest is up to you. You have to be mentally ready to take on life changes to succeed. If your head is not on the same page as your body it's setting up for failure. I don't want to see that. So, I wanted to talk about why I started. Why I stuck with it. Why I still stick with it. Why I started-  Simple reasons- I was 25 (a week away from 26) and obese. Yes, obese. In fact that was actually classified as extreme obesity. I reccomend everyone check their bmi and see what their classified under and the health risks associated with it. That's usually a big wake up call!  http://www.nhlbi.nih.gov/guidelines/obesity/BMI/bmicalc.htm Who likes to be classified as obese?! I didn't. At all. 2nd reason- fertility. It's no secret we planned on having another baby once Savanna

Banana Oatmeal Muffins... Um Yum!

Image
I know we hear a lot about how flour isn't good for us. Which is bad news for those of us who like to bake! Well, not anymore. I am new to this clean eating world so I may be late to the party (whats new right?!) but, I have discovered something that will change baking life as I know it. You know what that is? Oats. Old fashioned, steel cut, rolled whatever kind of oats. Awesome right? I was led to this discovery trying to save our waistlines and our wallets from our Banana walnut bread from starbucks addiction. So, what you will need for this recipe. Kitchen supplies: Food processor or blender Coffee grinder (preference) Muffin Pan Muffin Liners Ingredients: 2 ripe Bananas 1 egg 1/2 cup applesauce 1 cup of vanilla (or plain) greek yogurt 2.5 cups of oats 1/2- 3/4 cup of honey (preference) 2 tsp baking powder 1.5 tsp baking soda 2 TBSP Chia seeds (or ground flax seeds) 1.5 tsp Vanilla Extract 1/2 cup chopped walnuts Take the 2.5 cups of oats and add to food

Monday Weigh In- The Truth

Image
At some point or another, your loss is going to slow down. I have reached that point. The past 3 weeks I have teetered on a plateau. Just obnoxiously hanging out in the same 5 oz range (yes, ounces). See, most of you thought because of my huge loss in such a short time I was some dieting perfectionist. The truth is, I too slip up. Sometimes I enjoy a slice of pizza, or my poison last night was buffalo chicken dip. I am human, I am not a diet and exercise machine. Guess what? I ALWAYS pay for it too! On the scale, in measurements, or I just feel sick as a dog! Either way, there are consequences for my poor eating choices. That's just how the cookie crumbles (speaking of poor eating choices...). I also would like to point out I do not allow slip ups often, once every couple weeks is about it. The whole point of that wasn't to prep you for a bad weigh in. It was just to let you know that while yes I have had great results very fast and yes I fully promote beachbody products an

Home made peanut butter

Image
Say what?! Yes, I am taking this home made thing to a new level!  In our quest to save money and still eat clean we came across the idea to make our own peanut butter. Is this house, we could easily use a 16oz jar a week.  Price comparison-16oz  natural/organic peanut  jar $7. Regular peanut butter 16oz jar $3.50. Homemade peanut butter- bottle of peanuts- $3. Makes 16oz of peanut butter.  So for less money you are getting a completely natural peanut butter that is 100 calories less than regular peanut butter. Also minus those pesky ingredients that do absolutely nothing but pollute your body such as fully hydrogenated vegetable oils, rapseed soybean, mono and diglycerids, salt.  So, for home made peanut butter. What you need, peanuts. That's it. Just peanuts. If you like a sweeter taste you could add (oh auto correct just about got me on add. Ashley -1 auto correct -0) some honey or stevia.  Add 1 cup of dry unsalted peanuts to your food processor.

Dessert anyone?!

Image
Last night my sweet tooth (go figure right?) for the better of me and I strayed from my planned out frozen grapes for dessert. Still kept it clean and healthy though! Just goes to show, sometimes you can stray off the plan a bit while still following guidelines and keeping it healthy!  So what did we have for dessert last night? Honey and cinnamon drizzled baked bananas served on natural French vanilla ice cream.  Really easy to make. Simply slice up a banana, drizzle some raw honey over the slice, then sprinkle with cinnamon. Bake at 350 for 10 minutes. Serve on top of one scoop of natural vanilla ice cream or vanilla yogurt. Since this was a last minute decision we were not prepared with home made ice cream. So Adam (my husband) ran to the store and returned with frozen yogurt. He got home and was telling me about all artificial garbage in said frozen yogurt. Something most people would think is the healthier option is actually not the healthiest option. He then told m

Transformation Tuesday

Image
This week I wanted to have one of challengers do transformation Tuesday.  She has only been at this for a week now but after her first weigh she said something to me that really struck me. Something I have been trying and wanting everyone who asks me about what I did to lose weight to know.. She said "I have never got results like this before with anything I have done". Yep. Exactly what I have been trying to show everyone! So, I asked her a few questions for transformation tuesday. Lets remember, its not always a matter size difference, there are so many other transformations you go through during a lifestyle change! A picture of us at the kids Halloween party lol Here is what she had to say about her first week of drinking Shakeology and doing the T25 work outs. Oh, did I mention she lost 7lbs and 3 inches her in one week?! Amazing! How do you feel after the first week of the challenge? -The first week was exciting but I was nervous. I've never stayed wi

P90X3 week 1= complete

Image
As we know, when one program ends a new one must begin. While I was incredibly sad to say goodbye to Shaun T for 90 days, I was pretty excited to start the new P90X3. The problem I have, I am creature of habit! It took me all week to come to gripes that I was no longer working out shaun T and repeating his lines like "and your focus begins now" lol. I now get the corny jokes and one liners from Tony Horton. One of my favorite Tony one liners- "hands go cheek to cheek. You have 2 sets of cheeks" Oh Tony... I decided to follow the lean schedule while my husband is following the classic schedule. Since it is only 30 minutes a day, I am really trying to get up early to workout first thing in the morning. Anybody who knows me or has had the displeasure of seeing morning Ashley, knows mornings... are NOT my thing. lol. As I have said before, I am a night owl so mornings and myself do not get along! I have done pretty good with it, my body is still trying to get

What is that Shakeology hype all about?

Image
If you have ever done and looked into a BeachBody fitness program then you have probably seen and wondered "what the heck is shakeology, why all the hype, and why is so expensive?". You are not alone my friends. I myself had this same line of questioning when I first heard of it. I also hear this all the time from customers, so let me break it down for you. My first question: Why is this so expensive?  I came across this chart. Basically this chart shows you how much of your typical groceries you would need to equal the amount of vitamins and minerals in 1 single servings of shakeology. The breaks it down, how much 1 servings of shakeology is compared to cost of buying all those groceries for 1 servings of the same amount of nutrition. While, I found this to be pretty incredible I still was not convinced. So my next question: Who can afford this stuff? That is when I came across this chart. Comparing Americas typical daily food purchases to the price of sha

Meal Prepping - Freezer Crock Pot Meals Edition

Image
This year I have made it one of my resolutions to cook more. We are your typical "what sounds good to you?" "Oh, I don't know. what sounds good to you?" family. This goes on until it is too late to cook anything decent. Which leads to drive thrus, pre package meals.. garbage basically. So, this year I am eliminating that issue. How? The world of freezer crock pot meals! Friday or Saturday night once my husband and little one are in bed (I am a night owl and the only one in this house too lol) I sit down and plan out our meals for the next week and make a shopping list, so I do not forget anything. Luckily for my challengers, they get access to my meal plan, recipes, and shopping list. I find this to be the easiest method of cooking healthy family dinners. When you are busy with work or if you're like me and just don't like cooking. My husband, little one and challengers agree! Sundays are my shopping and prep days. I take my shopping list and I

T25 and Shakeology Results and Review!

Image
Well, its here. Today I took my final stats for T25! I completed my 2nd Shaun T program, and for that I am pretty proud! Shaun T doesn't mess around, he knows what he is doing and not afraid to make ya sweat! So, here I give you results and review on the program. What I lost: Pounds: -20lbs Inches: -20 inches Body Fat %: -6% body fat That is pretty amazing only working out 25 minutes a day, 5 days a week. So, I know a lot of you will compare this to my results with Insanity. So, I will give you the accurate comparison. Just looking at my lost numbers won't give you an accurate comparison. Why? Because my body was smaller, lighter and at healthier body fat percent when I started T25 than it was when I started Insanity. So, In terms of loss with Insanity, I lost 19% weight. With T25 I lost 14% weight. So only a 5% difference. Also, to put that into perspective for you. Insanity workouts were twice as long and 1 extra day a week compared to T25. I am not saying one p
