Are you counting calories or chemicals?

Image
There is a misconception about what's healthy and what isn't. In general, people take low calories to mean healthy. Low fat is healthy. Low carb is healthy. That is where the misconception lies. Low calorie/fat/carb/sugar etc does NOT equal healthy. In fact, most of your low calorie etc foods contain dangerous chemicals.  Did you know that artificial sweetner was discovered during pesticide making? Did you know a popular weight loss shake contains zinc oxide? Yes, the same stuff in diaper creams.  Did you know that imitation vanilla flavoring comes from paper mill waste? Did you also know dangerous chemicals such MSG can be hidden under other names such as "other natural flavors", dextrose, corn syrup, modified food startch, or anything being described as pasteurized or enriched? No? I challenge you to take a look at the foods on your pantry, freezer and fridge. Can you pronounce all the ingredients in it? If you can't pronounce it, y

What is clean eating?

Image
I have had such a big response for people interested in a clean eating FREE seminar! I am still currently planning to host the free clean eating seminar. Poll leaned more towards a webinar instead of in person meeting. So, I am compiling everything and searching for the best way to host a webinar (any suggestions appreciated 😊) and once I have everything finalized, I will announce the date!  We will cover: 1. What clean eating is? 2. Simple steps for getting started. 3. What to look for when shopping. 4. Clean eating for kids. 5. Examples of a clean eating day of meals.  Keep checking back for the date!

Raw Juice Reboot

Image
So, my husband and I attempted a raw juice reboot. The plan was for 5 days however, we made it 2.5 days. I am going to be honest, this is not for everyone. I absolutely love to juice, I replace 1 meal a day with juice as it is. To reboot is a little more difficult. I do plan to give this another try in the future. I woke up the morning the reboot started coming down with a cold. I figured the micronutrients would help fight the cold off faster. Which I do think it definitely helped. However, already being sick, achey, weak and tired doing a reboot that also caused those same symptoms was a double whammy for me. I work 10.5 hours a day running a home day care, I had a hard enough time working when sick, add in the extra symptoms of re reboot.. It was a disaster. Here's what I plan to do differently next time, take more time prepare. This was a last minute decision. I didn't take the time to wean off certain foods like the reboot suggested to do a week or 2 before star

My NEW favorite shakeology recipe!

Image
Snickerdoodle Shakeology. Really, do I need to say more?! This stuff is amazing! I dream about this stuff. Sadly, I actually have dreamt about it haha. Judge away, I don't even care. As long as I can make my snickerdoodle shakeology, all is right with the world! The Recipe- 1 scoop vanilla shakeology  1 cup vanilla almond milk 2 tsp cinnamon  1 tsp peanut butter  1 tsp honey 3-4 ice cubes Blend and enjoy!! I also will add in some chia seeds to it. I don't recommend flax in it, you can get an odd flavor off the flax that doesn't blend well with the recipe. Chia seeds are totally tasteless 😉

My Birthday

Image
I have no problem withholding on Thanksgiving or Christmas when it comes food and eating healthy. My birthday however, is more of a challenge. I saved up my cheat day to enjoy my birthday favorites. Dinner at Texas Roadhouse (those rolls.. Oh those rolls!) and my "cake" a turtle pie from baskin Robbins. For those who have never had one, I would normally recommend you trying one. However, if you have not had one, it's best to not even try it. Lol you will over endulge... And you will be sick! Much like I was.. Well, am. Every single year! Lol Which is why the juice reboot was quick to follow, I knew I would do awful on my birthday. That is what's important though,  I had a recovery plan. Many people will ruin their entire week in one day and not have a plan to recover from it. My plan was a juice reboot and up and the workouts.  The point of this post is to show everyone, I too have my weaknesses. I will slip up but, I will also have a plan to recover from

Letting the cat out of the bag.. My starting stats revealed

Image
Have you set a goal with expectation of never actually reaching it? Well, that's pretty much where I am with my weight goal.  A few months back I posted on my Facebook that once I reached a certain weight goal, I would share my starting weight, inches and body fat percent with everyone. Never expecting to actually reach that weight, I thought I was in clear! Yet, here I am at said goal weight.  I have thought all morning what the best way to do this would be. Correction, the least embarrassing way to do this. I am proud of my weight loss, I am not proud of my starting number. In fact, I am extremely embarrassed by it. So, I've been thinking "hm how can I do this so people won't really pay attention to my starting numbers". The more I thought about it the more I realized, I have lost over 70lbs. Obviously, my starting number was high. People expect that. While I want to lock this number up and bury it, I can't. That number is part of who I was and part of wh

Valentine's Day

Image
Valentine's day marked the 1 year anniversary of me swallowing my pride and accepting the reality that something was wrong. 1 year since I made that first, of many follow, doctors appointment to get to the bottom of things. The appointment where labs were drawn, ultra sounds were done and  family histories laid out. While this was not the day we for answers, nor was it the day I started my weight loss journey. It is the day that I finally decided to start taking my health more seriously though. It was the day I took my first step in the right direction. No more ignoring signs of problems, no more hiding from the doctors scales and inevitable discussion about my weights. None of that mattered anymore.  Last Valentine's day wasn't really an exciting day, but it's a memorable one.  This Valentines day was spent with my 2 Valentine's. Enjoying each other's company! I also got my 21 day fix program in the mail! So happy Valentine's day to me!

6 months in and wow...

Image
This week marks 6 months since I started this weight loss journey. With a simple push of a play button, my life has completely changed in such a short time frame. I was on a mission to succeed and I wasn't going to let anything stop that. So, we emptied out all the fatty processed garbage in the kitchen and started a new work out program.  My first fitness program of choice? Insanity. Yes, that makes the obese former me insane. That out of shape and I thought taking on Insanity was a wise move. Well, apparently it was for me because by the end of the program I was down 40lbs! That is when I became hooked! When I finished Insanity and decided to start T25 is also when I decided to become a Team BeachBody coach. The 10 weeks on T25 and flew by and I was down another 20lbs. Here I am 5 weeks into P90X3 I am down a total of 70lbs!! Had you asked me 6 months ago where I would be on my health and fitness journey, this certainly would not be my answer! I am just as shocked as ever

Transformation Tuesday

Image
This Monday marked 30 days since my challenge group started. Everyone in the group is either following the T25 fitness program or the new P90X3 fitness program. Everyone has been following the clean eating plans. Yesterday I asked my challengers to post their before and after 30 days photos. I was so blown away and incredibly proud at the same time with their results. With their permission, I hope to feature each challenger for transformation Tuesday.  This week, an adorable couple following the T25 fitness program. While they have had some amazing results, it has not been an easy journey. There have been bumps and struggles along the way. Even through those bumps they have stayed positive the entire time. They are proof that it's ok to struggle as long as you stay dedicated to making the changes and keep trying to better yourself pays off! What has been the easiest adjustment for you? -Getting our T25 workouts in. We get up at 5:20AM to have our workout done by
