Thanksgiving Detox!

Image
First off, how was everyone's Thanksgiving? Thanksgiving is always a fun holiday, lots of family, relaxing and food! My husband had to work in the morning (such is police life) but, thankfully was off in time for us to enjoy TWO Thanksgiving dinners! Lol yep.. 2!  I did my workout before dinners so, I felt good going into dinner! I also walked off some feasting calories with some serious Black Friday shopping after dinners! Lol  That's not to say I didn't enjoy the stuffing, rolls and desserts.. I did! Which is what brings me to our Thanksgiving detox!  Thanksgiving kind of rolls into 2 days around our house. Why? What up left overs! So, after 2 days of feasting on delicious carbs and sodium.. I am feeling the affects of it! Which is why I am so ready to do this detox!  As you have read, I have done the 3 day shakeology cleanse and I have also done juice reboots! I am also a smoothie lover. So, I set out on a mission to combine all of these clea

Stay On Track During the Holiday Craziness

Image
Thanksgiving is in a few days. Everyone knows what that means, lots of travel, lots of chaos and LOTS OF FOOD! Staying on track through all the chaos can be tricky but, it is doable! Here are a few tips I have for enjoying Thanksgiving without affected your goals! 1. Get organized! I spent Monday meal planning for the week, going grocery shopping and prepping meals! Being organized and having a plan makes it so much easier to keep on track and stay the course!   2. Do your workouts!  Don't use the holiday as an excuse to skip your workouts! Get up a little bit earlier on Thanksgiving to make sure you get it in before you head off to dinner (or multiple dinners). My plan, I will be double workouts on Wednesday, doing my regular workout on Thanksgiving morning and then I will do doubles on Friday also to help recover!     3. Shakeology! Drink that shakeology for breakfast! It will control hunger which will prevent you from over eating at your dinner.. or multiple di

Once an Addict Always an Addict?

Image
I was talking to one of my challengers the other day and she said something to me that just clicked. She asked how I was and I mentioned I felt a bit like a hypocrite bc I had gained some weight back after losing it all and here I am helping others and representing a healthy lifestyle when I still struggle to eat right some days. Her response was dead on. "Don't feel like a hypocrite! It helps me to know that you are just like me. We will always battle with our weight. Junk food is a drug that is very addictive. Once an addict always an addict. It's ok to fall off but once you have your moment then just pick yourself back up and do it again." She was so right! These words rang true to me especially today when I had an aha moment! I had just ate my snack, a blueberry cereal bar (not totally clean but a relatively healthy snack none the less). I finished it and wasn't at all hungry anymore. Yet, I found myself fighting the urge to go back in the kitchen

Resistance Band Safety

Image
I don't know about you all but, I have always preferred weights to resistance bands. I just like the movement with weights better but also because resistance bands terrify me. I just picture a good snap whacking me in the face anytime I use them. However, since I am doing P90 I don't have a choice in the matter. Several moves use resistance bands only. So, I had to get used to them and use them. Safety!  You see, a couple months ago my husband (sorry babe, I'm calling ya out) was not using them correctly attached to a door. He pulled back and the bands came snapping out of the door and smacked him right in the chest. He had a huge bruised welt for days after that.  They do make door attachments you can buy to use resistance on a door. There are also ways you can do it yourself to attach to the door. The easiest way to it using a towel. What you do is fold the resistance band half, put the towel around it and then shut that in the door. Leaving you with saf

Can you smell the failure?!

Epic fail this past week.. I had big plans. My first week in P90 was going to be awesome. We were going to do the 6 day quick start and not miss a workout.... That's not exactly how the week went though.  Sunday was meal prep day as usual. Only problem was, I woke up Sunday feeling death. No biggie. I have an amazing husband who stepped in to take that over so I could rest.  Monday rolled around- I managed to do my workout (bad idea though, I coughed up a lung when I was done. Lungs weren't quite ready for that) followed the meal plan pretty well for the first but, since I was sick I didn't eat everything bc it hurt to swallow and also I didn't have an appetite. Tuesday- my little one wakes up sick. All you parents out there know just what happens on the days you have a sick youngen on your hands. Yep, you guessed it. Nothing! So, I didn't get my workout in. Eating was pretty good though! Wednesday- oh Wednesday.. It was a hard day emotional

Mocha Shakeology Recipe

Image
I have a new obsession and its called Iced Mocha Shakeology ! Now, I am not going to pretend here. I never have been able to give up my flavored coffee creamers. Sorry, it just never happened. Franky it probably never will. Maybe one day down the road but not today! Why the confession? Because its part of my own little mocha shakeology recipe. Heres what it is: -I make my coffee as I normally would. 1 packet of Stevia and 1 TSP of creamer. -Then I mix it with ice to get it cold BEFORE mixing it with chocolate shakeology . That is a crucial step because shakeology CANNOT be warmed. It ruins the nutrients in the shake. -Once it cooled I mix it all together in my shaker cup and there you have it. A fabulous Iced Mocha Shakeology !

My Health/Fitness Plans

Image
Earlier this week I got my new workout program, P90. I did what I always do when I get a new one. I read through the books and popped in a workout to watch to see what to expect. At first my honest thought was "compared to what I have been doing this may be below my endurance". I know I know, a little presumptuous of me. I'm just being honest so I can explain to you why first impressions aren't always accurate! Not only are first impressions wrong, my attitude was wrong. I seem to forget I fell off the wagon for a bit and my endurance is not what it was 6 months ago. Even if my endurance was still as good as it once was, I still had the wrong attitude. You see, ever since I started this life style I have done straight extreme cardio. Which is great and gets results obviously but, sometimes your body just needs a little break from intense and get back to the basics. Not only so you don't tire yourself out on the same type of exercise, also so you don'

My Little Werewolf

Image
Not health or fitness related but, too adorable not to share! Our little girl is not your typical Barbies and princesses little girl. She likes cars, dinosaurs and soccer. The only princess type theme she has any interest in is Frozen (duh!). We love our girl of many interests, it's what makes her unique and fun!  So of course in typical Halloween fashion, she didn't pick a traditional "girls" costume. She wanted to be a werewolf! The costume stores were useless. The only girls werewolf costume was a total joke and frankly, pretty inappropriate looking for her age. So, I went searching on the only site I knew I could find ideas on... Pinterest!  Pinterest never fails, except in this case! Seriously, was my child the only 4 year old little girl that wanted to be a werewolf?! There was nothing, zip, nada. After endless searching I finally came across ONE single little girls werewolf costume idea. It was time to get creative.  What we used to make it:
