It's not just what you're eating, It's also whats eating you.


I find that statement to be so profound. It really does nail it right on. So many people have the notion that overweight people are just too lazy to do anything about. That really couldn't be further from the truth for many people who struggle with their weight.

What void are you trying to fill with food? Do you have some past traumas that need attending, are you in a dead end job, are you in a bad relationship? etc These are all things that can cause people to over eat. It's not because they are lazy or don't care about themselves, it is because they trying to fill a void with food.


It all goes back to that time of childhood. When you were sick, or had a bad day, or had something awful going on in your life (maybe a family or pets death, moving, starting the first day of school etc) what did your mom do for you? Make you that comfort meal. When you stayed at your grandparents house what did they always do? Fed you junk until you were stuffed because they knew that is what made you happy.


It is something that is instilled in our minds as we grew up that food is a comfort. Food is what can make us feel better. What makes this so much harder to break is we are no longer eating food. We are eating food like products. These food like products contain very strong chemicals that tells your brain "you need more of that". Much like smoking. Every time a person smokes a cigarette they worsen their addiction. Same with food. People scoff it off but a food addiction can be a very real addiction.



So, for anyone this applies to losing weight is bit of a struggle. You have to address the reason behind your eating habits. You have to fix that to learn a new way of life. I have always said that weight loss is more mental than physical. That is very much so true!
